Project Overview

We designed an all-in-one platform to streamline the workflow process for a catering chain. The platform serves both supervisors and employees at every store. Users can assign and complete tasks, monitor store and employee performance, manage human resources, and effectively communicate with co-workers.

Challenges

Our main challenge was to create a versatile dashboard that allows supervisors to monitor store and employee performance and take actions for improvement. Additionally, streamlining the workflow process within each store was another significant challenge. Addressing these issues was essential to delivering a quality product.

Design Goal

  1. Improve the workflow process
One of the goals of this project is to enable the platform to manage tasks and training easily, and to improve communication between management and employees. Achieving these will enhance store performance.
  2. Design for both supervisor’s and employee’s needs
As the platform includes both a supervisor portal and an employee portal, it is crucial to gather and address the needs of both sides.
  3. Create components capable for desktop and mobile
Design reusable components for the mobile app to reduce development costs.

Solutions

To tackle the challenges and achieve the goals, we developed a platform that fulfills the needs of both supervisors and employees. Supervisors can assign tasks or training to single or multiple employees in a few steps and track progress and updates. Employees can access and complete their tasks or training quickly via the mobile app

Process

The Design

Process

  1. We conducted user interviews to gather insights and understand the daily operations of both supervisors and employees.
  1. We mapped out the user flow and site map to better address users' needs and solve their pain points.
  1. We designed low-fidelity mockups for review and testing by stakeholders and the development team.
  1. High-fidelity mockups and prototypes were produced for the development team.

The Design

Dashboard
The dashboard is exclusively designed for supervisors. They can monitor store performance, check task status, and initiate new tasks from the quick links section. Supervisors can also switch to another store’s dashboard if they manage multiple stores.

Tasks List
Users can track the status of all tasks assigned to or initiated by them. The list view and progress bar help users understand the overall status at a glance.

Training
The training list showcases all available training for employees, with icons indicating the purpose of each training, allowing users to quickly understand the training content.

Notification Inbox
The notification inbox is designed for both supervisors and employees. Users receive updates related to tasks or training here and can update tasks or respond to comments or recommendations.

Announcement
The announcement feature is designed for supervisors to share news or updates with their employees. Supervisors can make announcements for multiple stores or specific users and include media such as images or videos to enhance the message.
