Warehouse Robotics Management App
Robotics, inventory, and warehouse management all in one.
What Is it?
An app designed to track movements of warehouse robots. This allows users to track, troubleshoot, and control robots within a warehouse structure. Users can also inspect stock levels as well as inspect the structure in 3D to find any trouble spots.
What We Did
Performed user interviews and gathered workflows for how users inspected robots and manually inspected the warehouse. We then designed and prototyped the app and tested dynamics and usage behaviours with the end users. Once the design was set, we supported the development team with style guides and digital assets for production.
Outcome
Prototype was used for user testing as well as a development guide. The development team worked along side us to release the project into the warehouse environment.
The Process
- Interviewed clients to gather requirements and understand how operators used command lines and network tools to control the warehouse robots.
- Mapped out a usage flows for an operator to control the robots as well as to monitor it’s behaviours in relationship to the orders they’re working to fulfill.
- Designed, iterated, and prototyped a low fi mockup to test with stakeholders and a selected user group to test for acceptance and usability.
- Produced high fi mockups and development assets for the development team.
The Design
The key element to this app is the 2D and 3D warehouse layout. Operators will be able to select a robot from the map or from a list to the side and issue commands to the robot directly on the screen. This alleviates the need for an operator to then use a command line tool to issue commands to the robot.
This also gives operators a view into where every robot is as well as which product they are currently carrying. This makes “state of the warehouse” reads much quicker.
